TVET Youth Challenge Program

1. Background

From December 2019, The Ministry of Youth and Culture, in partnership with the Ministry of Education through Rwanda Polytechnic, KOICA and UNDP organized and implemented the TVET Youth Challenge, a program aimed at supporting the match between students’ practical knowledge with on ground challenges. Set as a competition, the TVET youth challenge has been conducted in all higher learning TVET institutions, selecting outstanding innovative applicable projects that are at least on prototype phase.

The first two years of this competition, 114 best winers from 14 eligible higher learning institutions namely IPRC Kigali, IPRC Karongi, IPRC Huye, IPRC Gishari, IPRC Musanze, IPRC Ngoma, IPRC Tumba, IPRC Kitabi, Muhabura Integrated Polytechnic College, Akilah Institute, SJITC Nyamirambo, The International Polytechnic Institute, Peace Integrated Polytechnic and ULK polytechnic have been awarded financially.

In this fiscal year,2022-2023, The Ministry of Youth and Culture, in partnership with the above partners is planning to conduct a third edition of the TVET Youth challenge competition organized throughout the 12 higher learning TVET institutions both public and private schools, in a bid to create a strong link between students’ practical knowledge with challenges in the market. 

TVET Youth Challenge 3rd Edition

The Ministry of Youth and Culture, in partnership with the Ministry of Education through Rwanda Polytechnic, KOICA and UNDP are pleased to announce the third edition of the TVET Youth challenge that will start effective from 3rd October 2022. The competition will be conducted throughout the 12 higher learning TVET institutions that were mentioned above in a bid to create a strong link between students’ practical knowledge with challenges in the market.

Competition at School and National Level

3 best innovators projects will be selected at school level; this implies that 36 best projects will be selected and awarded in 12 participating TVET Higher Learning Institutions. At National level, 4 projects will be financially awarded.

Objectives

The overall objective of organizing this Challenge is to instill the entrepreneurship spirit among students and support promising projects while connecting practical studies acquired in schools to problems in our communities and inspire innovations.
