100 Young Entrepreneurs Received $3,000 Each in Aguka Entrepreneurship Program
On August 17, 2024, at Kimisagara Youth Center, the Ministry of Youth and Arts celebrated International Youth Day with its partners, the Tony Elumelu Foundation, UNDP, and the EU. A highlight of the event was the awarding of $3,000 cash prizes to the top 100 young entrepreneurs participated in the Aguka Entrepreneurship Ideation Programme.
The funding will support these entrepreneurs in scaling up their ventures and contributing to Rwanda's economic growth.
In his remarks, Permanent Secretary Parfait Busabizwa expressed gratitude to the partners for their invaluable support in empowering young people. He emphasized the government's commitment to providing youth with the skills and resources needed to transform the country.
The Aguka programme, initiated in 2022 by the Government of Rwanda with the support of the EU and UNDP, aims to create 100,000 jobs for young Rwandans in 4 years. The 2024 Aguka Entrepreneurship Programme competition began in April 2024, and the 100 winners were selected based on the innovative nature and potential impact of their entrepreneurial ideas.
