Kigali Cine Junction 2025 Launches, Celebrating African Cinema and Global Stories
Minister of State Umutoni Sandrine joined diplomats and creatives to launch the Kigali Cine Junction Film Festival 2025, calling on African filmmakers to use cinema as a tool for cultural connection, collaboration, and economic growth.
Minister of State Umutoni Sandrine, alongside HE Antoine Anfre (Ambassador of France to Rwanda), HE Doudou Sow (Ambassador of Senegal), Michel Evéquoz, and Moussa Sène Absa, officially launched the Kigali Cine Junction Film Festival 2025, a celebration of African cinema and global storytelling.
Minister Umutoni emphasized cinema’s unique role in connecting cultures, urging filmmakers to leverage festivals like this to amplify their voices and build cross-border partnerships that boost Africa’s creative economy. She reaffirmed Rwanda’s support for the arts through initiatives like Art Rwanda–Ubuhanzi, which empower creatives to compete globally. “Film is a mirror and a bridge,” she noted, “Your creativity matters. Your voice is part of our nation’s cultural foundation.”
