MoYA, MINICOM and RDB Engage Artists on Strengthening Copyright Protection

The Ministry of Trade & Industry (MINICOM), the Ministry of Youth & Arts (MoYA), and Rwanda Development Board (RDB) are meeting with artists from various creative sectors to discuss the draft Ministerial Order regulating the organisation and operation of the Collective Management Organisation (CMO).

This initiative is a response to growing concerns among artists regarding the inadequate protection of their intellectual property and the lack of fair financial returns from their work. During the discussions, Permanent Secretary Ngabo Brave highlighted that the government is committed to addressing these concerns by establishing a more effective and transparent system for managing artists' rights.

By collaborating with stakeholders, this initiative seeks to create a structured and fair system that ensures artists receive rightful compensation for their creations. The engagement reflects the government's ongoing efforts to support the creative industry and strengthen intellectual property rights in Rwanda.
