Minister of State Sandrine Umutoni Commends Ubumuntu Arts Festival 2026 for Advancing Peace, Memory, and Creative Development

Minister of State Sandrine Umutoni, the Closing Ceremony of Ubumuntu Arts Festival 20 was held at the Kigali Genocide Memorial. In her remarks, Minister of State Sandrine Umutoni congratulated Ubumuntu Arts Festival for showcasing the power of the arts to transform, preserve memories, heal through dialogue and contribute to a culture of peace. “This year’s theme “Embracing Time: Holding On.  Holding Together” reminds us that creativity is more than leisure and entertainment; it is also about using the gifts we have to heal, foster empathy and build our future together.

 The Government of Rwanda will continue to invest in culture and our creative economy as we recognize its potential to provide employment for our youth, build our nation and tell Rwanda’s stories to the world.” Minister of State Umutoni also congratulated festival for continuing efforts to invest in young talent by providing mentorship opportunities to up-and-coming artists and creatives. 

 Minister of State Umutoni thanked local and international artists and friends who through their time and financial support helped make the 20 Ubumuntu Arts Festival an incredible celebration of our shared humanity.
