MoS Sandrine Umutoni Attends Inaugural Cine Kwibuka Event During Kwibuka32
As part of Kwibuka32, Minister of State Sandrine Umutoni attended the inaugural edition of Cine Kwibuka, a film programme curated by Myriam Birara and hosted at Canal Olympia. Through a selection of documentary and fiction films, the event offered participants an opportunity to reflect on the history of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and its enduring impact on successive generations.
In her remarks, the Minister highlighted the importance of preserving historical truth and promoting unity, particularly among young people born after 1994. She encouraged them to view this history not as a burden, but as a responsibility to seek the truth, protect it, and contribute to building a future grounded in dignity, unity, and resilience. She also called on all participants to reject division and silence in the face of injustice, emphasizing the shared responsibility to prevent hatred and genocide ideology wherever they emerge.
