MoS Sandrine Umutoni had the honor of welcoming the legendary Yvonne Chaka Chaka, South African singer, songwriter, and VP of CISAC, to Rwanda. The two leaders, alongside Rwanda Arts Initiative (RAI), delved into an enriching discussion on the future of Rwanda’s music industry and the importance of strengthening intellectual property laws to protect artists’ rights. 

Together, they explored how Rwanda can become a leader in safeguarding creativity and ensuring fair compensation for artists across Africa. With a shared vision for the continent's creative sector, this meeting set the stage for pivotal advancements in Africa’s music and cultural economy.
